MARGAO: The Rumdamol Sarpanch Saimullah Phaniband on Sunday warned that the panchayat would not tolerate any attempts from certain quarters to erect illegal huts in the village.
During the discussions on the construction of housing tenements in the village during the Sunday gram sabha, the sarpanch maintained that the panchayat has not received any communication from the Housing Board over the construction. He, however, said that the panchayat would crack a whip and would not allow any illegal hutments in the village.
The panchayat also discussed the issue of tax collection and disposal of garbage. The sarpanch thanked Navelim MLA and Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado for providing the support to take up the garbage collection drive.
Gram sabha members questioned the sarpanch over the government’s promise to waive house tax by the households. The gram sabha also constituted a committee as per the instructions of the BDO to tackle stray dog menace in the village.
