PANJIM: In another embarrassment to the government, a special type of drug – Skunk – was seized from a rented apartment at Siolim, the constituency of one of the ministers on Saturday. The drug is not known much in Goa, and the possibly target for sales could be students in the coastal area.
A reliable source told Herald that Skunk, seized from the air-conditioned room of the apartment in Siolim, is usually found in Amsterdam and USA among the student community.
“It is a potent form of a drug and usually found in Amsterdam and US. Students consume this drug. In the raid at Siolim, the Russians imported the materials to grow this drug through a special technique,” the source said.
The Crime Branch (CB) team, that arrested two Russians – Maxim Moskichev and Artem Seregin – for allegedly planting the drugs, claims that it is marijuana.
The ‘narcotics lab’ was raided following a tip-off. The CB team claim the seized contraband substance weighing 30 kg is valued at Rs 10 lakh.
It has also been learnt that it is also being sold in kiosks at Siolim. Each 10 gm is worth Rs 10,000, the source said.
After the seizure of 100 kg of ketamine from an industrial unit belonging to a BJP functionary, this raid of a ‘narcotics lab’ in the constituency of a coalition party MLA is a further embarrassment to the ruling dispensation.
