Sale of fish not allowed outside Vasco market: MMC to traders

VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Leo Rodrigues on Saturday warned that the wholesale or retail sale of fish outside the Vasco fish market complex will not be allowed, and directed wholesalers to sell fish in the existing market premises only between 6 am and 10 am.

Stating that the fish wholesalers do not possess valid trade licences and that the sale of fish within a one-km radius of the fish market is illegal as per the Goa Municipalities Act, Rodrigues said that the Mormugao municipal council had already issued notices to the wholesalers, asking them to stop sale of fish within seven days, failing which the municipality will seal their shops and confiscate their goods.
