VASCO: The seven-month long struggle between a company and striking workers at Zuari Nagar, Sancoale was resolved on Saturday.
While the workers’ union has claimed that the management has agreed to most of their demands and that more that half of the striking workers have been absorbed in two sections of the factory, the company has not issued any statement in this connection.
A union leader stated that a number of workers, who were on strike, are still out of work and the company had assured the union that if it needed more labourers then first preference would be given to those striking workers without jobs.
The company has also come out with a VRS scheme, whereby all those below 50 years and employed with the company for more than 10 ten years will be given three months salary for the years they have worked as the VRS package. All those above 50 years will be given five months salary for the years they have worked with the company.
Those employees interested in the VRS scheme are expected to apply within 90 days from the day of announcement of the VRS scheme by the company.
The union leader also claimed that the company had assured to give first preference to those workers who have availed of the VRS package, in case additional manpower is required at the company.
