SANGUEM: In a remarkable achievement, five out of six government high schools in Sanguem secured cent percent results in the SSC examinations a by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. This outstanding performance challenges the prevailing perception that government schools do not offer quality education.
Notably, none of the five aided schools in the taluka, typically preferred by many, achieved cent percent results.

Among these government schools, the Government High School at Netravalli stands out – not only did all 45 students who appeared for the SSC exams pass, but the top three scorers in the taluka are from this school. Vaishnavi Pradip Gaonkar secured the top position with an impressive 94.83 per cent, followed by Radha Chinmay Tanshikar with 92.50 per cent, and Sakshi Ulhas Gaonkar with 87.83 per cent. This marks the eighth consecutive year that the school has achieved 100 percent results in these examinations.
What makes this achievement even more commendable is that the school is located in a remote area devoid of tuition or coaching facilities. The students rely solely on the guidance provided by their dedicated teachers.
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school expressed pride in the results and commended the headmaster and teachers for their dedicated service. “It would be befitting if the Education Department would regularise the services of teachers who have been working here on contract basis for more than 18 years,” said Chinmay Tanishkar, PTA chairman.
Other government schools in the taluka that achieved cent percent results include Government High Schools at Vaddem Curdi, Valkini, Kalay, and Colomb. The only government school that did not achieve cent percent results is the one at Zambaulim, which recorded 73.33 pass percentage.
Among the aided schools, aMiracles High School Sanguem secured 98.33 percent, while Union High School, Sanguem, achieved 75.90 percent. Our Lady of Fatima High School, Rivona, attained 87.50 percent, Utkarsh High School, Rivona, secured 77.78 percent, and Sharada English High School recorded 78.26 percent. It is noteworthy that Union High School, which has consistently achieved cent percent results in the past, fell short of that mark this year.
