Sanguem locals for early completion of Ravindra Bhavan works

Residents from Sanguem have called for early completion of works pertaining to the construction of Ravindra Bhavan at Pajimol-Sanguem.
It may be recalled that the Department of Arts and Culture after receiving a proposal from Sanguem MLA Vassudev Meng Gaonkar for the construction of a Ravindra Bhavan at Sanguem had identified some three places in and around Sanguem for the implementation of the project.
After conducting a due survey, the department had proposed construction of Ravindra Bhavan on Water Resources Department-owned vacant land at Pajimol-Sanguem.
Subsequently, plans were put forth and the procedure for the inter-departmental transfer of land from WRD to the Director of Arts and Culture was finalized and the file pertaining to the construction of Ravindra Bhavan at Pajimol was forwarded for approval from the finance department.
However, over a period of one year has now elapsed, the file is reportedly gathering dust in the finance department.
Sources informed that most of the procedure pertaining to the construction of Ravindra Bhavan at Pajimol has been completed, but what has made the government to keep the project pending is not known.
When contacted, Sanguem MLA Vassudev Meng Gaonkar said the WRD has already granted sanction for the transfer of 10,000 sq mts of land for the construction of the Ravindra Bhavan.
“Moreover, there is also enough space surrounding the area transferred to the Department of Art and Culture for parking of vehicles and the like activities,” informed Gaonkar.
Gaonkar however feigned ignorance as to what exactly has made the government keep the proposal for the construction of Ravindra Bhavan at Pajimol pending and that too after completion of major part of the project work.
Gaonkar opined that if the Director of Art and Culture fails to construct Ravindra Bhavan at Pajimol, then there is every possibility of the WRD land, now transferred to the Department of Art and Culture, being encroached upon by individuals and construct illegal houses.
Incidentally, Sanguem taluka despite being the largest taluka is yet to be provided with the facility of a Ravindra Bhavan, which the citizens have been demanding for long.
