PONDA: South Goa MP Narendra Savoikar on Thursday stated that more stress will be given to provide toilet facilities in the schools in South Goa, garbage disposal projects and promote agricultural crops and upgradation of health sector by improving health facilities and providing ambulances in South Goa through the MP’s Fund in the next four years.
Addressing media persons in his office, Savoikar said many schools in South Goa lack basic toilet facility.
“Garbage disposal plant is the need of hour and I will see that such projects come up in South Goa. The Central government has planned many schemes for various agriculture crops and I will fund to promote the special chilly crop cultivated in Khola-Canacona along with lady finger and other crops,” he said.
He said that he recently spoke to the Health Secretary in Delhi to provide funds for upgradation of hospitals in South Goa with ambulances.
He said recently he provided fund of Rs 35 lakh to a project founded by doctors of Ponda at Farmagudi which will provide treatment to terminally ill patients. “Further, Rs 70 lakh will be spent on construction of playground at Nirankal Goullar Bethora,” he added.
He said he will make efforts to see that the process to construct Galijibaga Bridge at Canacona is expedited at the earliest. He said that through the MP fund he will provide about Rs 70 lakh to install CCTV cameras in Ponda city and the work is likely to complete in July or August this year.
