Sanquelim’s Desai Nagar sealed

BICHOLIM: With Sanquelim witnessing a rise in coronavirus cases, the authorities sealed Desai Nagar on Sunday.  Nine positive cases were reported in the town, while Sal detected four cases.

On Sunday screening of suspected persons at Bandarwada was conducted by Medical officers of Sanquelim Community Health Centre (CHC) under the guidance of health officer Dr Uttam Dessai.

The District Administration through Bicholim Mamlatdar’s office distributed essential commodities free of cost to the residents of the sealed area at Bandarwada, Sanquelim.  The screening of the residents of Desai Nagar, which was sealed on Sunday, will be held on Monday.

According to the authorities, the four cases detected in Sal were from the same family. Some reports are still awaited.

Meanwhile, there was panic in the neighbouring Karapur Sarvan panchayat as the elected members along with the residents went to Tisk at Karapur to create awareness among the shopkeepers.

It is pertinent to note that there are several shops and other establishments at Karapur Tisk and since it is close to Sanquelim, the residents feel they are at risk. Many from Sanquelim also visit these shops.

The residents along with the sarpanch visited Tisk at Karapur and urged all to maintain social distancing.

Bicholim Fire and Emergency Service officials sanitised various areas in the Sanquelim Municipal Council jurisdiction with the assistance of SMC officials.
