SANTA CRUZ: Instability returned to haunt the Santa Cruz Panchayat, as six panchas, including the deputy sarpanch, have moved a no-confidence motion against Sarpanch Vincent Lourenco, barely five months after the sarpanch took over the reign of the panchayat.
The signatories to the motion, apart from Deputy Sarpanch Diksha Kavlekar included Tony Fernandes, Indira Fernandes, Maria Rodrigues, Namdev Naik and Sauanna Araujo.What made Deputy Sarpanch Kavlekar switch sides could not be ascertained as she could not be contacted
Ever since the current panchayat body was formed, four panchas have occupied the post of sarpanch with Lourenco occupying the chair twice, while Tony Fernandes and Namdev Naik have also occupied the post at some point of time.
Till date, three no-confidence motions have been moved with this motion being the second against Sarpanch Lourenco. Namdev Naik was also ousted after he lost the no-trust motion against him the last time around.
