PANJIM: Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) of Santa Cruz Village Panchayat and Curti-Khandepar panchayat won the Conservation Award 2021 for the best BMC of North and South Goa, respectively. Both will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each and a citation.
BMCs of Penha da Franca and Mandrem panchayats bagged second and third appreciation prize in North while BMCs of Sarzora and Cavelossim panchayats won in south.
Sanket Suresh Naik in North Goa and Dr Manoj Ramakant Borkar in South Goa won the individual prize for their passion and work in biodiversity.
Two veteran biodiversity enthusiasts, Amrut Lal Singh and Sangram Keshari Das and 15-16 other persons who have been instrumental in the conservation of biodiversity were also awarded.
The Goa State Biodiversity Awards 2021 were declared by Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral. The awards will be presented at a function to be held at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem, later.
