PANJIM: The gram sabha of Sao Matias Village Panchayat on Sunday passed a resolution to implement the garbage collection tax on every household from the next financial year i.e 2024-25.
During the meeting, it was also resolved to reduce the proposed amount of garbage collection fees from Rs 750 to Rs 375 per annum.
The members requested the Panchayat to consider coming out with a detailed plan and mechanism on required manpower for collection, segregation, disposal etc. on a large scale covering the entire village before implementing the garbage tax collection fees.
The issue of irregular ferry service timings was also discussed and the attendees demanded the Panchayat to write to the government with a request to ply one more ferry boat connecting the island village to Old Goa.
