MARGAO: The Sarpanch of Cavelossim Eioniza Dias informed the grams Sabha that the Panchayat has written to the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority to seek clarity on the new CRZ notification 2018 and the implications on construction in the village.
The issue was raised by one Rocky Barreto who said that the new notification may help people who want to extend their houses along the coastline.
The sarpanch refused to take up the proposal to discuss the NOC granted to Mobor Fisheries saying that the matter was subjudice.
Edwin Barretto, a local and owner of a hotel in the village raised the issue of increase in taxes on hotels in the gram sabha. He requested that the tax be reduced from current rate of Rs 1000 to Rs 500.
Acknowledging that tourism was down this year which had impacted the hotels in the village, the sarpanch turned down Barreto’s request. The sarpanch informed that the Panchayat will be increasing the tax on resorts by 20%.
