Sattari headmaster arrested for beating two students

VALPOI: The headmaster of a government high school at Pissurlem-Sattari was arrested on charges of assaulting two students from his school on Thursday.

VALPOI: The headmaster of a government high school at Pissurlem-Sattari was arrested on charges of assaulting two students from his school on Thursday.
According to Valpoi police, the mother of one student complained that her son had been beaten up by the headmaster, Madhav Joshi of Bardez, on Thursday morning.
It is learnt from sources that the incident had taken place when two students of Std 9 from the government high school were caught fighting in the classroom at about 10 am on Thursday.
Sources informed that one teacher reported the matter to the headmaster and he summoned both students to his cabin, where he is alleged to have punished them by beating them with a stick. 
Instead of returning to his classroom, one of the two students decided to go home and narrated the incident to his mother, who immediately lodged a complaint with the Valpoi police.
Valpoi Police then sent both students to the GMC Hospital at Bambolim for a medical examination and arrested the headmaster, Joshi, under Section 323 of IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act.
Police informed that the headmaster complained of uneasiness and was shifted to Community Health Centre (CHC) Valpoi. Sources at the CHC Valpoi informed that the headmaster is suffering from high blood pressure and has been kept under observation.
Further investigations are in progress under the supervision of PI Sanjay Dalvi.
