Sattari locals: Power shutdowns will hit weddings

VALPOI: With the summer just set in, residents of Sattari including Valpoi are left fretting over a series of power shutdowns planned by the Electricity Department in the area.
Residents feel that as summer goes by, the situation will turn worse particularly to those without air-conditioners. Though the Power Department has planned shutdowns in various areas and is working on all modalities to carry out pre-monsoon works. Some residents have expressed concern that the power shutdowns will affect their wedding celebrations.
With the temperatures likely to soar to 32-34 degree Celsius in the next two months, a power cut for even 10 minutes will be a nightmare, claimed a local resident.
“I am worried as we have wedding celebrations in April and the dates are clashing with the planned power shutdown. Hope things work out properly as several times water supply gets affected during such shutdowns, complained a Valpoi resident.”
Meanwhile, the Electricity Department said that they have planned a month-long power shutdown to carry out area-wise pre monsoon work.
