VALPOI: In connection with the blast reported at Ansolem on Monday night, the Valpoi Police on Tuesday arrested Nasir Hussain Zamadar (53) from Nagvem, Sattari, for allegedly storing explosive substances in his warehouse.
According to the police, Nasir had illegally stored explosive substances in the warehouse of his open property and the same exploded on Monday night. The impact of the explosion was such that the warehouse, its main gate and compound wall and houses of the people staying in nearby areas were damaged.
Six months ago, the accused was operating an illegal rubble quarry business. Nasir had purchased and stored these explosives without paying attention to and knowing that storing the explosive in such a manner can cause harm to life and property. He disregarded this caution in the hope that he could reuse sticks in the later period in his mining business.
Valpoi Police have registered an offence under Sections 436, 427 and 286 of the IPC and Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substance Act. PSI Allaudin Khan is investigating the case.
