VALPOI, MARCH 21
The Shigmotsav was organized in Sattari taluka with traditional fervour on March 18 and 19.
Various contests were organized at the taluka and state level during the two-day festival.
Large numbers of people from all walks of life witnessed the Shigmo parade on Thursday.
Vijayadevi Rane was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony while Kala Academy Member Secretary Dr Pandurang Phaldessai was the guest of honour. Others present at the function included ex-MLAs Ashok Parab and Narhari Haldankar, VMC Chairperson Gulzar Bi Khan, VMC Vice Chairperson Umesh Gulelkar and Shigmotsav Samiti members.
In the Romtamel contest, the prizewinners were Shree Gurdeo Ambedkar Samaj of Borim (first), Shree Navodurga Gopal Krishna Mandal of Borim (second) and Shree Anantsai Mandal of Savoi-Verem (third). Consolation prizes were awarded to Sateri Mahadeo Romtamel Paikul and Lamgao Shigmoutsao Bicholim.
In the folk dance contest, the prizewinners were Shantadurga Sanskrutik Mandal of Cuncolim (first), Saraswati Kala Mandal of Curti (second) and Ghalvansh Kala Mandal of Keri-Sattari (third). Consolations prizes were awarded to Yash Leela Cultural Club of Priol and Sidhi Vinayak Kalasangh of Mardol.
In the fancy dress contest (seniors), the prizewinners were Vishaka Gaonkar of Hivre (first), Pawan Ramnath Sawant of Copordem (second) and Krutika Krishna Mhalshekar (third). Consolations prizes were awarded to Neetin Pokle and Vaishnavi Rajesh Pokle.
In the fancy dress contest (juniors), the prizewinners were Anuj Arvind Pokle (first), Divya Krishna Gaonkar (second) and Dayanand Suryakant Rane (third). Consolations prizes were awarded to Vishwas Ankush Narvekar and Swati Satyawan Gawas.
In the fancy dress contest (state level), the prizewinners were Prakash Maojekar of Ponda (first), Ulhas N Gaonkar (second) and Narendra Narvekar (third). Consolations prizes were awarded to Madhu Soma Gawas, Ganesh Matnekar, Vithu D Gawas and Ramesh Betkekar.
In the singing contest (seniors), the prizewinners were Shobhita Kurtarkar (first), Bhakti Sutar (second) and Krishna Narvekar (third). Consolations prizes were awarded to Kumar Vipul Gaonkar.
In the singing contest (juniors), the prizewinners were Vasudeo Chawan (first), Vikrant Naik (second) and Udai Majik (third). Consolations prizes were awarded to Mhadeo Gaonkar and Rupesh Gawas.
In the film dance contest (group), the prizewinners were Nyansagar Shikshan Sanstha (first), Four Angels (second) and Bad boys (third), while in the individual category, the prizewinners were Shobita Kurtarkar (first), Ashmi Gawas (second) and Krutika Mhalshekar (third). Consolations prizes were awarded to Prasidhi Gawas and Alpita Naik.
