Savarde gram sabha calls for repairing village roads

Villagers want Movacho Guno declared as historical place and drinking of alcohol stopped there

VALPOI: The Savarde gram shaba on Sunday discussed the bad conditions of the roads in the village.
The meeting was attended by over 50 villagers. Other issues discussed at the meeting are dilapidated gutters, declaring Movacho Guno as a historical place instead of tourist place.
Gram sabha member Anant Naik said that the gutters in his area are filled with mud. “This is causing overflow of water on road and flooding some houses. We have already complained to panchayat but no one is taking any action,” he said.
“All internal roads in Savarde have developed huge potholes due to which many accidents have occurred. We demand to fill the potholes,” said Prashant Naik, another gram sabha member.
“Movacho Guno is a historical place; it has a rich history. It is not a tourist spot. The government have declared it that it is a tourist spot. We demand that the government declare it as a historical spot. If government declared it a historical place then it will reduce the drowning incidents and also it will reduce the drinking of alcohol at that place,” said Vishwanath Nene, a villager.
“We have passed a resolution calling upon the government to declare Movacho Guno as a historical place and not a tourist place. And we will fill the all potholes and will repair the gutters in the area before the Ganesh Chaturthi festival,” Sarpanch Narayan Gaonkar said.
