…says will support BJP on drug nexus issue

PANJIM, JAN 23
Benaulim MLA Mickky Pacheco on Saturday maintained he would support the Bharatiya Janata Party if they demand for a CBI inquiry into the police-drug peddler nexus during the Winter Session of the State Assembly.
Answering a question pertaining to the drug nexus, Pacheco first said he would individually support the BJP and then maintained his party (NCP) will also back BJP if the issue came up in the Assembly. Not only BJP, anyone who is against the drug nexus we will lend our support, he asserted.
Ridiculing Goa In-charge of Congress, B K Hariprasad for giving a clean chit to Home Minister Ravi Naik over the drug issue in Goa, Pacheco demanded all those involved, including the Home Minister and his son, have to be arrested and probed.
He questioned what proof does Hariprasad needs on the drug-nexus issue. “Aren’t the sting operations shown time and again by the electronic media and reports by the print media evidence enough?” he questioned further.
Pacheco, who said he was speaking as a frustrated citizen and not a politician, asserted neither the Congress high command nor a single member of the Cabinet has uttered a single word in the matter.
He ridiculed further, “The Digambar Kamat-led Government has become extremely insensitive towards the law and order problem in the State. Looking at new criminals in khaki dress on Goa’s horizon one can say a new trend is being set, he chided.
Pacheco said time has come for al like-minded Goans to come under one umbrella and fight for the interest of the people of the State. Many NGOs, institutions, parties are with us on this issue and the Government will soon realise it is not working as per laws, he stated.
