SC allows MPDA to file another review plea in HC

VASCO: The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority  to file another review petition in the High Court on the issue pertaining to the Navy’s NOC for any construction within 4-km diameter surrounding the Dabolim airport.

MPDA chairman Clafasio Dias informed reporters that the MPDA had approached the High Court on the issue stating that around 55 files are pending for Navy permissions.

Dias said, “The MPDA had approached the High Court in this regard expecting a fruitful result but the case went in Navy’s favour. We later decided to knock the doors of the Supreme Court and on Wednesday we had a hearing in the apex court wherein an order was passed in our favour and the court directed us to file another review petition in the High Court and once again present our case.”

He informed that the MPDA has also been directed to approach the Supreme Court if in case there are any other issues.

“I feel this is our first step towards victory as several people were badly affected with the specific clause of naval permission which practically takes months to obtain. We have around 55 development files that are pending for Navy’s permission for the last five months” Dias added.
