PANJIM: The Supreme Court has upheld the life sentence granted to two persons from Margao for kidnapping an eight-year-old child from Margao school in 2011 and demanding Rs 20 lakh ransom from his businessman father.
The duo, Rupesh Falkar from Moti Dongor, Margao and Victor Fernandes from Davorlim were earlier awarded life imprisonment by the Goa Children’s Court in 2017. The Supreme Court upheld the sentence. The convicts had pleaded that they be released as they were already in jail for past several years. Rupesh, who worked as driver, along with his friend Victor had allegedly kidnapped the boy from school and sought ransom of Rs 20 lakh from his family.
