Science Film Fest of India from March 17

PANJIM: With an aim to inculcate more knowledge about the world of science among the youngsters, the annual Science Film Festival of India, also known as SCI-FFI, will be held on March 17 and 18. 

According to a statement, this year, the 6th edition of SCI-FFI is restricted to only two days owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, as against annual four-day event. 

Vidnyan Parishad, Goa president Suhas Godse said this year, the festival is focusing on creating interest among rural students in science and technology and, to reach their goal, the festival has started organising the pre-fest activities in various schools across the rural regions of Goa as an outreach programme. 

The activities have started from March 1 and will continue till March 15, 2021. 

“Access to vast knowledge of science should be given to each student, irrespective of being urban or rural and it is through this programme that we aim to achieve this goal,” Godse said. 

The Directorate of Education (DoE) through a circular issued to all the Heads of government and government-aided, unaided secondary and higher secondary schools to permit teachers and students to attend SCI-FFI. 

The Directorate of Education  said along with screening of science feature films, science teachers’ workshop, innovators exhibition and filmmaking workshop will be organised during the two days.
