Scrap all Sagarmala projects in Goa demands National Fish Workers Forum

Vasco: The National Fish workers Forum has demanded the Sagarmala Plan and all related projects to be scrapped immediately for the State of Goa. The NFF has also demanded the Government De-notifies 6 rivers of Goa from National Waterways Act, 2016, De-notify MPT jurisdiction over inland and coastal waters and land, Zero Coal at MPT and some others.
The NFF today handed over a memorandum to the Captain of Ports placing all the demands. The exercise is a part of the all India protests of the National Fish Workers of India opposing policies of Government of Goa.
The NFF has claimed that it has been demanded by not only the fishing communities of Goa, but also a majority of the population of the State. “We have studied the issues of Goa’s fishing communities in great detail and inform you that the Sagarmala program proposed by the Union Government is against the fishermen of Goa, and therefore we demand to scrap the following projects and policies in the state of Goa” said Olencio Simoes, Vice Chairperson of the NFF and Goenchea Ramponkaraancho Ekvott.
