PANJIM: Lokacho Aadhar president Trajano D’Mello on Friday demanded scrapping of the draft jetty Policy following strong objections raised by the Captain of Ports Department to the policy proposed by the Tourism Department and the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).
Bringing to fore the objections raised by the CoP, Trajano said that the CoP had demanded that the policy to be scrapped. Citing excerpts from the letter, he said, “The draft policy is unacceptable to the CoP in the present form. CoP has stated that they were not fully consulted on the said policy despite being a member of the Jetty Management Committee.”
Trajano pointed out that in the draft policy, the CoP has stated that the role of the Jetty Management Committee is being extended to jetties in all rivers of Goa in such a authoritative way that it transgresses on the statutory powers and administrative jurisdiction of the ports and rivers of Goa .
