Seafarers stranded in China to return on Jan 14

VASCO: Twenty-three seafarers aboard Indian vessel MV Jag Anand off the Chinese coast for the past 10 months are likely to return to India by January 14, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and WaterwaysMansukh Mandaviya tweeted on Saturday.

In a press release issued by the MPT, it has mentioned that “Ship MV Jag Anand, having 23 Indian crew, stuck in China, is set to sail toward Chiba, Japan, to carry out crew change, and will reach India on January 14,”  Mandaviya tweeted. He added that once the crew members reach Chiba, they will undergo due procedure related to COVID-19 protocol and then fly to India.

Mandaviya stated that this could happen due to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.He appreciated the Great Eastern Shipping Company for its humanitarian approach towards the stranded seafarers.
