Selaulim local arrested for abusing govt servants

SANGUEM: Sanguem police arrested a Selaulim local Sanjay Naik for verbally abusing and physically obstructing government servants from discharging their duties. Naik was arrested under sections 186 and 506 of IPC.
Sources informed that Assistant Engineer J D Menezes, Junior Engineer Swapnil Divkar and other officials had gone to clear the Irrigation Department owned property at the entrance gate of the Selauli Dam which was allegedly encroached on by Sanjay Naik.
While the officials were performing their duties of clearing the encroachment by dumping mud, the accused Naik accompanied by his minor children appeared at the site and started questioning the officials over filling the land with mud.
When the officials explained that the land belonged to the Irrigation Department and that he has no right to enter into the same, Naik started obstructing the land filling operations by making his minor children stand in front of the truck.
As Naik was in no mood to listen, Menezes lodged a complaint at the Sanguem police station against Naik. Following which, the Sanguem Police arrested Naik for obstructing government servants on duty and for giving them bad words.
Sanjay Naik was subsequently released on bail by the JMFC Sanguem.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Naik filed a counter complaint against Menezes, Divkar and others for pushing him and his minor children.
In reply to the counter complaint, Sanguem Police recorded statements of some of the concerned officials.
Sanjay Naik have reportedly questioned the Irrigation Department Officials as to why the department has targeted the encroachment made by him when there are still others who have encroached into the government property and enjoying the benefits of the same.
