VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council has decided to go hard on Plaster of Paris Ganesh idols in Vasco.
The chief officer has issued a notice to the market associations and related establishments for strict compliance of the same.
The MMC is going to follow the direction under the Section 5 of Environment (Protection) Act, 1968 which bans manufacture, import, stocking, display and sale of PoP Idols in the State of Goa.
All the establishments have been directed to give an undertaking that they will not display or sell such PoP idols during Ganesh Chathurthi Festival season, failing which this Council has decided to forthwith cancel their license.
