A complaint has been filed with Crime Branch against Deputy Superintendent of Police Serafino Dias for purchasing a plot by giving incorrect information to the State government that he does not own any immovable property in the State. Dias will soon be summoned for questioning.
“He had mentioned in his affidavit that he does not have any immovable property, whereas he has another plot and a flat registered in his name. Based on this affidavit, he was granted the plot at Serula comunidade,” a police officer informed, quoting from the complaint copy.
The Crime Branch sleuths have begun preliminary investigation before registering an offence against the DySP. As a part of this procedure, the officer will be called for questioning.
The Crime Branch has already made eight arrests in the case including a former attorney of Serula comunidade Peter Martin and clerk Mohan Narvekar. Two deputy collectors of Bardez Sabaji Shetye and NM Gad, and former North Goa administrator Irene Sequeira have been quizzed as the trio was holding the North Goa administrator’s charge when the alleged irregularities occurred. Crime Branch has not ruled out involvement of more government officials including police officials in the scam, as reported by Herald earlier.
