MARGAO: Cuncolim police arrested accused Mahesh Merashi, of Joida-Karnataka who was wanted in theft of gold ornaments and cash Rs 50,000 amounting to Rs 3.90 lakh.
Head constable Digambar Kamble informed that total cash and gold ornaments have been recovered from the accused.Merashi has been working as a servant at Ganesh Mollu Desai’s residence, Culwado-Cuncolim for the past five years. On July 8 the accused went missing and upon inquiries, the Desai family realised that the maid allegedly committed theft of 3 gold bangles, a chain and cash of Rs 50,000. A complaint was filed and a theft offence was registered.
The accused was nabbed on July 13 at 10 pm in Panjim and brought to Cuncolim late night. Further investigation is underway.
