VASCO: Upset over the non-fulfilment of wage settlement promise made by their employer, the Employees Union of the Sesa Mining Corporation (EUSMC) on Monday served hunger strike notice to the Regional Labour Commissioner Vasco, N M Shetty.
In their notice to Shetty, they gave him a formal intimation that all 310 employees associated with EUSMC will go on hunger strike from May 25 onwards in Bicholim and Vasco till mining is resumed in the state. Their employers had agreed that by April 30, 2018, the wage settlement arrears to all 310 employees from September 2014 to 2017 will be duly paid but later held back the decision citing total ban on mining operations in state.
