PANJIM: A total seven companies purchased tender documents for installing high security registration plates (HSRP) on vehicles in Goa, while the transport department has extended the last date for collecting document to December 27.
For the fourth time, the transport department had on December 6 begun the process of inviting tenders for installation of HSRP on vehicles. The tender documents were supposed to be available till December 23 while the last date for submission of bids is January 8, 2014. Following which the technical and financial bids would be opened respectively, thereby short listing agency.
Director of Transport Arun Desai said that till the last date of December 23, total seven companies had collected tender documents from the department. He said that the deadline to collect the document has now been extended till December 27.
Desai said that with an aim to provide HSRP at lower rates to public, the government is looking at an Indian company with its manufacturing unit in Goa or nearby states.
As reported earlier, Government is trying to implement HSRP from the next financial year 2013-14.
The government in 2008 had awarded the first contract to M/s Shimnit Utsch and nearly 60,000 vehicles had installed HSPR before the contract with the company was terminated in 2010 citing glaring irregularities in the contract process.
The department opened a fresh tenders in 2011 and Delhi based Utsav Technology was shortlisted; however the same was also set aside.
The new tenders were opened in early 2013, which was also scrapped on technical grounds.
