A Smart City excavation exercise in Fontainhas reportedly left a resident facing unexpected expenses after workers blocked the sewage pipeline during a changeover to a new line.
According to residents, the workers had placed a cement block to seal the old pipeline but allegedly failed to remove it before switching the connection. As a result, the sewage line of a nearby home became completely blocked.
The affected resident was forced to spend ₹4,000 to resolve the problem and restore normal drainage.
Locals have urged the authorities to ensure better supervision of ongoing Smart City works to prevent such incidents and reduce inconvenience to the public.
