MAPUSA: Calangute police busted a sex racket, arrested a person, rescued a girl and sealed an apartment at Candolim, on Wednesday.
Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi said that he received information that a pimp was supplying girls in Candolim area. Accordingly, a team was formed and along with a NGO member, laid a trap by setting up a dummy customer who made contact with the pimp.
The pimp was detained whilst making a deal with the dummy customer. The pimp has been identified as Aniket Sarkar 27, a native of West Bengal.
Police also rescued a victim girl, a native of Gujarat. She has been lodged in Protective Home, Merces for safe custody and protection after obtaining an order from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Bardez.
Police attached Rs 20,000 and two mobiles along with other articles from the apartment. PI Dalvi said they have sealed the apartment and would summon the owner for investigation.
The raiding team was led by PI Jivba Dalvi and consisted of PSI Vidyesh Pilgaokar, PSI Sitaram Malik, police constables Vidyanand Amonkar, Sameer Sawant, Yogesh Bordekar, Nilesh Mandrekar, and lady constables Deepa Gaurav and Supriya Mayekar.
