PANJIM: One of the three senior forensic doctors, charged with allegedly sexually harassing a medical student, has filed for anticipatory bail in the Sessions Court. The petition will come up for hearing on Wednesday.
A post graduate medical student had filed a complaint with the women police station that registered her complaint against the doctors under sections 354-A and 509 of the Indian Penal Code last Thursday.
The police have begun an investigation into the complaint in which the victim has made allegations against the senior doctors. In the eight-page complaint, the victim, who is also an assistant lecturer, has explained in detail the alleged ‘sexual harassment, mental torture, threats and blackmail’ by the doctors.
She has also claimed that she was working without salary since December 2012 despite remaining present for all classes and cases and alleged that her attendance certificate has not been signed by the head of department.
“He (naming the doctor) went ahead with the harassment and stopped my salary by not issuing the attendance certificate to the accounts sections, GMC to release my salary from the directorate of accounts…” the complaint copy states. The victim doctor has further alleged that another doctor, who is also named in the FIR, manipulated the attendance register.
More so, she said that on February 25 after she complained against the trio to GMC Dean Dr V N Jindal, they threatened her to withdraw the complaint.
“They threatened me to withdraw the complaint or face consequences like failing my MD examination, non-allotment of cases, denied regularization of job and post in the department in future, etc,” she said adding that she did not succumb to threats.
“It is clear that the above named persons (the three doctors) conspired to choke my finances, knowing fully well it would inflict mental torture and agony and have cascading ill-effects on my career, studies, health and social life,” reads the complaint.
