SFC to screen films of three Goan filmmakers

PANJIM, NOV 17 The third edition of Short Film Centre (SFC) will screen films by three Goan filmmakers in the International Festival of India (IFFI) 2010. Of the 30 entries, two films by Goan lady filmmakers will be competing in the environment section while a film on psychic behaviour of man will compete in the international section.

The third edition of Short Film Centre (SFC) will screen films by three Goan filmmakers in the International Festival of India (IFFI) 2010.
Of the 30 entries, two films by Goan lady filmmakers will be competing in the environment section while a film on psychic behaviour of man will compete in the international section.
SFC, initiative to bring together short film makers, buyers, festival organizers and funding agencies, will screen 10 films exclusively from India in the environmental section while 20 films from across the world in the International section, which also includes ten Indian films.
‘Visit to Bondla Zoo’ a nine-minute- long short film by professor-cum-filmmaker Rajashree Bandodkar Karapurkar’s is produced in association with the state forest department. The second film in the environment section by Nalini Elvino De Souza is based on concept of water harvesting. The 23-minute long documentary aims as a solution for those living life without water.
In the international section, Ramprasad Adpaikar has come up with a film titled ‘Sin’ that takes the audience through the mind and madness of a man, haunted by his past.
Apart from these, films like My Friend Heera, Tiger Queen, Kaippad, Water and many others would be screened in the environmental section. While, Incurable India, Kusum, Still Voices, Happy Birthday, Dancing in Fumes, Fresh Suicide and others would be played in the international section of SFC.
The eminent international jury comprises of acclaimed Indian film director Goutam Ghose (Chairman), French producer Patrick Jorge, actress Helene Cardona and founder of the London Film Academy Daisy Gili.
The jury for the Vasudha Award, the highest national award for environmental films, includes environmental documentary film maker Naresh Bedi, UN wildlife conservation consultant Romulus Whitaker and Helmut Groschup, founder and director of the International Film Festival Innsbruck.
The awards like golden lamp tree award, silver lamp three award will be given in the international section apart from Vasudha Award for best environmental film.
