MARGAO: A complaint of corruption against Ashok Kumar, member secretary of SGPDA, Yadavlal Gupta and other officials of SGPDA has been filed for having allowed the sale at the SGPDA Ground. The Complaint has demanded immediate arrest of the accused and recovery of files for evidence.
The complaint says that the erection of the pandal in the said parking space grossly violated the right of the public to the parking area earmarked for that purpose and has caused immense inconvenience and nuisance.
According to the complaint, erection of the pandal also caused the traffic congestion in the area and vehicles are being parked on the roads and roadsides, for lack of parking space, thereby posing traffic hazards to pedestrians and other vehicular traffic.
“The parking space of SGPDA is primarily reserved for parking requirement of the general public as aforesaid, and the same cannot be used for any commercial purpose” says the complaint.
“The SGPDA had no right or power to permit any commercial use of the parking space, and granting of NOC would be in total violation of the law, the complaint charged.
It further said that it was crystal clear that the SGPDA member secretary and other office bearers, to obtain illegal gratification, hatched a criminal conspiracy with Yadavlal Gupta and granted him NOC to erect the pandal for holding a commercial consumer exhibition, to cause pecuniary advantage to Gupta.
According to the complaint “a sum of Rs 10,00,000 was illegally obtained by the member secretary and officials of SGPDA from Yadavlal Gupta to grant the NOC.”
