MARGAO: The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) Member Secretary Ashok Kumar has admitted that the standing committee, which was set up for preparing the Land Use Plan of Margao-Fatorda PDA area, does not have formal approval of the board.
Although the standing committee was constituted by the SGPDA board meeting, the minutes of the meeting were not confirmed yet and the SGPDA Member Secretary could not produce any order or notification regarding the constitution of the committee.
These facts were pointed out by United Goans Foundation (UGF) President Dr Aashish Kamat on Friday. Dr Kamat along with UGF members Dominic Noronha and Shriram Raiturkar had attended a hearing of the standing committee which was called based on objections filed by UGF earlier.
Some of the other lapses pointed out were wrong PDA boundaries shown in Khareband, Arlem junction etc and the arbitrary format used in preparing the Land Use Plan and Register.
and also the unauthorised use of a drone for preparing the plan.
“Without an official order or notification constituting the standing committee, the entire process of calling public hearing is invalid. The SGPDA has wasted people’s time and now they will have to reconstitute the committee formally and call everyone again,” said Dr Kamat.
