MARGAO: The unsuccessful candidates of the Margao municipal election have come together to work for the city and will be known as the ‘Shadow Council for Margao’.
The group feels that the political affiliations of the councillors won’t allow them to voice their opinions, which is where the group comes in. It will help air the people’s grievances and popular opinions. The Shadow Council already has over 40 members, which include former chairpersons and councillors.
“The people who voted for us shouldn’t feel that their votes have been wasted. The group will work for them and other people to highlight and resolve their issues. It is known all over that a lot of money, muscle and political force was used in these elections, which has made it a not-so-fair verdict,” said Savio Coutinho.
