MARGAO/VASCO: BJP national president Amit Shah has promised to develop Goa by making it a model state in the country and South Asia and expressed confidence that the party will bag 2/3rd majority this election.
Amit Shah was welcomed with an applause and cheer from at least 5,000 people from Fatorda, Curtorim, Margao and other parts of the Salcete Taluka during his second public meeting in Goa after Vasco.
The public meeting was attended by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Ayush Minister Shripad Naik, BJP Goa State president Vinay Tendulkar and the candidates from Velim, Margao, Fatorda, Curtorim and Cuncolim.
Launching a blistering attack on the state and National Congress leadership, he said, “In February, Goa will go to elections. Goans have the choice of the Congress, which looted the State for 10 years and gave 10 chief ministers in 15 years or the BJP, which provided a stable Government with development and progress.”
A confident Shah said, “The Goans will elect BJP with 2/3rd majority and we will form the Government. We will make Goa a model state of the country and present it to the world.”
Drawing comparison between Narendra Modi and Sonia Gandhi, the National BJP President said “Modi came to Goa recently with huge amounts of infrastructure and development for the state. But the Congress leader Sonia Gandhi came to Goa to eat and relax. Today I say that BJP will get the 2/3rd majority and form the Government and Congress from here on will only rest.”
Addressing the gathering, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said, “We expect that the lotus will bloom in Curtorim, the land which has lakes full of lotuses. We also expect our candidate Vinay Tari to win in Velim and our strongman Rajan Naik from Cuncolim to get re-elected during this election”.
Meanwhile, clearing air as to who will be the next chief ministerial face of the BJP in Goa, Amit Shah said that upcoming government would function under the leadership of Manohar Parrikar.
He was addressing a joint public meeting of all four constituencies of Mormugao Taluka at Vasco on Monday.
