Shah to address meet in city on Thursday

PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Amit Shah will address a public meeting in Panjim, on Thursday, on his first visit to Goa after taking charge as party president.

BJP Goa President Vinay Tendulkar said that Shah will also address party leaders and state ministers along with the chief minister on his one-day visit. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will be present along with Shah. 
Tendulkar has said the chief minister, cabinet ministers and party leaders will give their party president a grand welcome at Dabolim airport and he will be accompanied by a motorcycle rally from Merces circle to the BJP office in Panjim.
Tendulkar also said that after the public meeting, Shah will meet ministers and top party leaders. Shah will leave Goa on Friday. 
BJP will celebrate the first anniversary of the Narendra Modi government on May 26. As a part of the celebrations, four programmes, two in each district, will be held in the state. In South Goa programmes will be held in Sanguem and Margao and will be attended by Union Minister for Environment and Forests Prakash Javadekar along with south Goa Member of Parliament Narendra Sawaikar. The north Goa programmes will be held in Valpoi and Panjim and be attended by Union Minister for AAYUSH and North Goa Member of Parliament Shripad Naik along with MP from Maharashtra Punam Mahajan.
The idea behind the celebration is to convey the achievements of BJP government to the people, Tendulkar said.
Meanwhile BJP president Vinay Tendulkar said that the issues of Tiracol golf course and marina at Zuari bay will be discussed with Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Saturday on his arrival in Goa. “The party will sit with the chief minister once he arrives. As he was not in the state we could not hold discussions with him,” Tendulkar said.
