Shaizin is VMC vice chairperson

VALPOI: Shaizin Shaikh was unanimously elected as vice chairperson of Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) on Friday. The post had fallen vacant after the then vice chairperson Idrus Sheikh resigned two months back as per the agreement among the councillors. A special meeting to conduct election was presided over by Mapusa Municipal Council Chief Officer Raju Gawas. Since the presiding officer received only one nomination for the post, Shaikh was declared elected unopposed. VMC Chief Officer Amir Parob assisted. VMC Chairperson Ramdas Shirodkar and all the councillors were present for the special meeting.
