PANJIM: Shiv Sena Goa chief Ajitsingh Rane said
the party will rise against the government if justice doesn’t prevail for Fr Bismarque
Dias. Seeking strict action, he said that Fr Bismarque was not limited to any
religion but believed only in humanity, and that his death is a threat to all
social activists.
“Immediate action should be taken by the government.
We will give them a deadline of 30th November and if they fail to do
so, we will hold protests in different parts of Goa,” Rane said.

“It hurts me to hear rumours that the reason of
Fr Bismarque’s death by drowning was because he had consumed alcohol. Fr Bismarque
was not only a social activist but also an environmentalist, and a priest of
peaceful and positive attitude. We are not here for compensation; he was a true
Goan and thus deserves justice,” he added.
The party has sought a fresh FIR against ‘unknown
persons for murder’ and an investigation by a Special Investigation Team of
very high integrity.
They also demanded that the government treat this
case with priority, investigating all angles.
Rane accused the Police of mishandling evidence,
as people should have been prohibited from accessing the crime scene. He
demanded that stern action be taken against the police for brutally manhandling
peaceful, innocent people who were seeking justice for Fr Bismarque in Panjim
on Saturday.
“It is also the government’s fault, as they
instigated the police by adding pressure on them, which resulted in their
brutal reaction towards the people,” he added.
