MARGAO: Voters who live in Vidyanagar Aquem near HDFC Bank and Kerkar hospital were in for a shock when they discovered that close to 900 names have been omitted from the new Margao Municipal Council (MMC) delimitation list.
Sources pointed out that post-delimitation, their area demarcated as ‘part 5’ of ward 22 – a new ward is nowhere to be seen and ‘part 3’ has been repeated twice.
Residents wondered if there was a deliberate attempt to remove the voters from list given that the area features prominent people who could be candidates for the ward and thus put them in difficulty for filing of nominations.
The residents have further questioned how the directorate of municipal administration could have overlooked such a glaring omission and if there were similar omissions in the Margao delimitation that could have been overlooked.
