PONDA: A shop located at the old bus stand in Ponda was gutted and the owner suffered a loss of around Rs 70,000. Sources revealed that the fire engulfed the premises at around 9.30 on Saturday night.
A fire broke out in a shop owned by Vinayak Naik and the consumer goods in the shop were burnt and there was a huge loss. After informing the Ponda fire and emergency services, the personnel from the fire station rushed and extinguished the flames. The timely intervention ensured that the adjacent shops in the market did not catch fire and a major tragedy averted.
