Short circuit may have caused bus fire: KTC

PANJIM: The Technical Wing of the Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) that inspected the bus that caught fire at Bambolim on Monday has concluded that the fire may have been caused due to an electrical short circuit.

In a statement, KTC said that the body of the bus has been totally burnt causing a loss of around Rs 10 lakh. KTC has, however, asked the technical team of the chassis manufacturer and the bus body builder to ascertain the actual cause of the fire and submit their reports. 
KTC has also said that the driver of the bus, Suresh Lingudkar, on noticing the fire immediately opened the front pneumatic door and the passengers exited safely and in the process lost time in extinguishing the fire with the help of the fire extinguisher in the bus. No passenger was injured, the statement said.
