Show cause notice issued for hill cutting in Panjim

In the notice issued, NGPDA member secretary RK Pandita said that NOC shall stand revoked without any further notice if a reply to show cause notice is not submitted within time.

PANJIM: The North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) has issued a show cause notice to Biotech India Pvt Ltd over alleged illegal hill cutting at Kadamba Plateau on the Panjim-Ponda highway, for the proposed construction of residential-cum-commercial project. 

The company has been directed to show cause within seven days, failing which the No Objection Certificate (NOC) granted by the department for the project under the Town and Country Planning Act, will be revoked. 

The company is directed to stop the ongoing hill-cutting work immediately.

In the notice issued, NGPDA member secretary RK Pandita said that they received a “note” from TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane on September 5 with regards to ongoing hill cutting in the property which is not within the ambit of permission granted under section 17-A of TCP Act, 1974 on June 27.

“Therefore you are hereby directed to stop the ongoing work immediately and further to show cause within 7 (Seven) days why action under 17-B of Town & Country Planning Act is not initiated,” Pandita said. 

He further said that NOC shall stand revoked without any further notice if a reply to show cause notice is not submitted within time.

The media had highlighted the illegal hill cutting at Kadamba Plateau for a project by the private firm.
