Sirlim calls for linking Aadhaar with election card

SIRLIM: Sirlim gram sabha unanimously resolved to link the Aadhaar Card with the election card. According to a local resident Dominic Noronha, there are hundreds of migrants from neighbouring States who have voting cards both in their native State as well as Goa.

According to a local resident Dominic Noronha, there are hundreds of migrants from neighbouring States who have voting cards both in their native State as well as Goa. The only way to detect such voters is to link the election card with aadhaar number, he said. Speaking to Herald, Dominic justified the need for his proposal saying that these people have no love for Goa and only vote for money.
The gram sabha started off by facilitating seven students, who were toppers at various levels from SSC to degree, at the hands of the Chief Guest Fr Victor, parish priest of Dramapur Church.
The Secretary read the response from Central Ministry of Mining to the proposal sent from the panchayat against coal handling and transportation in Goa. The Ministry had stated that they are following the guidelines of Goa Pollution Control Board but this response did not satisfy the gram sabha.  The gram sabha resolved that they stand by the original proposal.
The gram sabha passed a resolution to write to the chief minister and revenue minister to request them to review the recent price hike for revenue documents such as Form 1& 14 and Survey plan. Villagers claimed that the hike is hurting the poor people.
Falicia Rodrigues sent a reminder of demarcation of property owned the education department and a pond owned by Comunidade and is in need of desilting.
Wilson Vegas raised the issue about the electricity works which had caused inconvenience to the residents. He questioned who was responsible for doing the electricity works which he claimed the deputy sarpanch, who remained absent for the gram sabha, had claimed credit. The Sarpanch responded that the Electricity department had taken it up in coordination with the local MLA.
The gram sabha also resolved to direct the FDA to conduct thorough testing of fish at the borders in light of recent media reports that had pointed out lapses in the testing exercise.
