PANJIM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has summoned Roy Naik, son of former chief minister Ravi Naik in connection with the probe into the police-politician-drug mafia nexus case.
“Roy Naik, son of Ravi Naik MLA Ponda, has been summoned to remain present on June 29, 2018 at 1100hrs at Crime Branch, Ribandar for enquiry in a house committee report in the police drug nexus,” SP Kartik Kashyap, heading the SIT drugs team told reporters.
Herald was the first to report in February that the Congress leader, his son Roy and senior police officials are on the radar of the SIT probing the nexus case.
Apart from politicians, senior police officials named in the 96-page House Committee report could also be summoned to depose before SIT. Also, David Driham alias Dudu and Yaniv Benaim alias Atala, who earlier faced investigation for their alleged role in the nexus, could also be called for interrogation.
The legislative panel, headed by then MLA Francisco (Mickky) Pacheco, had recommended an FIR against Roy while slamming Ravi’s alleged involvement in the nexus.
