‘Six lives, goods worth Rs 2.97 cr saved’
PANJIM (HNB): Mapusa Fire Service Station Officer Nitin V Raiker has stated that Mapusa Fire Services has saved the lives of six human beings, besides property worth Rs 2.97 crore from January 1, 2008 to August 12 this year.
According to Raiker, the total number of calls attended by them was 1,099, of which 573 calls were fire related, 417 were emergency calls, 11 were major fire calls and 109 were rescue calls.
Raiker highlighted nine fire-related incidents including that of Kineco Company Pvt Ltd, Pilerne Industrial Estate, where property worth Rs 50,00,000 was saved. Besides, property worth Rs 30,00,000 was saved at Axis Bank, Mapusa.
‘We also managed to save property worth Rs 16,81,000 at Rotoflex Film Pack Industries, Tivim Industrial Estate, Karwaswada, Mapusa’ said Raiker. He further said that Mapusa Fire Services also managed to save six lives in a major accident occurred, involving a mini bus, tanker and a truck at Malpem-Pernem.
