PONDA: The Kerya farmers have complained that their agricultural fields that are filled with mud and sludge due to flow of water from two pipelines that were damaged on August 15 this year, have not been cleared of the same.
Two pipelines of 900 and 750 mm dia supplying water to Tiswadi and Ponda were damaged causing disruption for more than a week. And water from the damaged pipelines flooded the nearby fields bringing down sludge and debris.
Further, on Sunday, another pipeline of 750 mm dia pipeline burst in the same spot. Water from this pipeline, too, flooded the nearby fields bringing down huge amount of mud debris and sludge.
Now, locals are demanding that these fields be cleaned by PWD and national highway contractor at the earliest. When contacted, the PWD water supply division officials said that they would look into matter to and clean the fields.
