MARGAO: The truck and taxi owners met the Assistant Director of Transport Prakash Kholkar and expressed their objection to the exorbitant rates charged for the smart registration certificate cards.
The truck and taxi owners have demanded that the charges of the RC renewals be reduced from Rs 860 to Rs 100 like the past. They have also objected to the delay in issuance of the RC books and demanded that the same be cleared and issued on a daily basis.
Assistant Director of Transport Prakash Kholkar said, “There are Government directions to make smart cards by recording the old books which are in manual form. The demands of the truck and taxi owners cannot be fulfilled according to the government directives. We are issuing the services timely and there is no delay.”
The truck and taxi owners have decided to meet the Opposition Leader on the issue and have threatened to make it a state-wide movement.
